Is luxury vinyl tile flooring pet-friendly?
A form of luxury vinyl (LVF), luxury vinyl tile (LVT flooring), and its counterpart, vinyl plank, are considered the best floors for a home with pets. LVF is 100% waterproof, scratch-and-stain resistant, and easy to clean. What's more, your pet will appreciate it because it's warm, resilient, and easy on the joints. It also has excellent traction; this refers to grip, so pets can run and slow down and stop at ease, eliminating any crashing into walls with possible injuries.
A picture tells a thousand words…
Some of the words for luxury vinyl flooring are elegant, sophisticated, premium, and affordable. The images are taken with 3D photography, so they are remarkably true-to-life images of wood, stone, or tile, all in a variety of colors, patterns, and designs. They are vibrant, with wormholes, grains, swirls and veining/color variations, and bold patterns.
This product has a micro bevel and is embossed for added depth and design, while textured appearances, a current trend, include wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered, and distressed. LVF can also be cut into planks to mimic hardwood boards and is finished in matte, gloss, or high gloss colors. It is an affordable, true-to-life echo of wood, stone, or tile.
How it will change your life
First, it is ultra-durable with a thick, clear melamine wear sheet on top that protects the floor from scratches and scuffs. The vinyl itself is durable, but when it's "luxury," it's a little thicker; yours should be at least 8-mm thick with the wear layer being 20-mils thick. If you're going for LVP and want an authentic hardwood feeling, you might go as high as 10-mm or even 12-mm thick.
LVF is low maintenance, requiring a daily sweeping and periodic mopping with a manufacturer-approved cleaner. Installation is also uncomplicated; it can be a floating floor where the pieces click together, then hover over the subfloor with no nails or glue needed. Subfloors need to be clean, dry, and level.
